Srinagar, July 17: The polling for election to the office of President of India started here today at 10 am under the supervision of Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Mr ShaleenKabra, and Election Observers from Election Commission of India.
Assistant Returning Officers and Authorized Agents of the contesting Presidential election candidates were also present during the election process.
Polling was conducted smoothly throughout the day and till the time of the conclusion of polling 86 MLAs out of the total 87cast their votes.
Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday voiced hope that parties facing the BJP in the states will revisit their decision to vote for NDA pick Ram Nath Kovind “considering the situation” in the country.
