Fans eagerly awaiting comeback of flamboyant wicketkeeper
BCCI chief Jay Shah provided an encouraging update on Rishabh Pant’s recovery from injuries sustained in a car accident over a year ago. The flamboyant left-hander has made solid progress in his rehabilitation according to Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting. Ponting revealed Pant has been keeping wickets in practice matches and his trademark batting flair appears undimmed.
This has fueled hope Pant may yet force his way into India’s T20 World Cup plans later this year. BCCI secretary Jay Shah said the board is monitoring Pant’s progress daily, a sign they believe he can bounce back to his best given more time. If Pant delivers strong domestic performances, selectors may be tempted to include his power-hitting in Australia.
Followers of Indian cricket will be excited by any hint Pant may grace the international scene once more. His swashbuckling style makes for must-see viewing in short form cricket. With the World Cup on the horizon, Pant and the BCCI will be laser focused on one goal – ensuring he is match fit and ready to light up the global stage with his scintillating wicketkeeping and powerpacked batting.
