Srinagar, June 9: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday and was received by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during a visit expected to focus on major infrastructure and connectivity projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor welcomed the Union Minister upon his arrival in the summer capital and shared the development through a social media post.
Gadkari’s visit assumes significance as several important highway and tunnel projects aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating development across the Union Territory are expected to be reviewed during his stay.
The review is likely to focus on the progress of ongoing infrastructure works and measures to expedite critical projects that are central to improving transportation networks in the region.
The visit comes amid the Centre’s continued efforts to upgrade road infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. Enhanced connectivity through modern highways and tunnels is expected to improve mobility, reduce travel time, facilitate economic activity, and promote tourism across the Union Territory.
