Srinagar: Traffic was restored on the Mughal Road and Srinagar-Kargil (SSG) road on Sunday, after snowfall temporarily disrupted travel in the Valley. Authorities had closed these key thoroughfares due to snow accumulation, but both roads were cleared for traffic after snow clearance operations.
The Mughal Road, connecting south Kashmir to the Pir Panjal region of Rajouri and Poonch, was blocked due to heavy snow but was reopened after the snow was cleared. Similarly, the SSG road, which links Srinagar with Sonamarg and Gumri (Ladakh), was closed due to slippery conditions but was also opened after the roads were made safe for travel.

Overnight snowfall impacted several regions, particularly in the northern parts of the Valley. Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif reported fresh snowfall in Karnah (Kupwara district), Gulmarg, and other higher reaches, including Tulail Valley and Gurez in Bandipora.
The meteorological center in Srinagar recorded 5.4 mm of rainfall in Kupwara and 3 mm in Gulmarg by 8:30 am on Sunday. According to an official update, while the weather may experience isolated rains tonight, dry weather is expected to prevail from Monday through the end of the month.
Looking ahead, the MeT forecasted dry conditions for the week of November 25-30, with a slight drop in temperatures. The minimum temperatures across Kashmir rose above zero, except in Gulmarg, where the mercury dipped to -1.5°C. In Kupwara, the minimum temperature was 5°C, while Srinagar recorded a low of 4.8°C.
Meteorologists also predicted light rain and snowfall over higher reaches between the late night of November 30 and the morning of December 1.
