Structural heart program launched at Ojas

Chandigarh: A structural heart program to enhance cardiac care was launched at Ojas Hospital, Panchkula on Saturday.

Dr. Anurag Sharma chairman cardiology said that the program is designed to address a spectrum of cardiac disorders distinct from blockages in coronary arteries, ranging from congenital defects to acquired structural abnormalities.

Dr. Rajat Datta director cardiology said that  the program aims to provide tailored solutions for each patient, ensuring optimal outcomes and improved quality of life. With the advancement in this field today valve replacements can be done without cutting open chest or putting patient under general anesthesia or bypass pump, he informed.

Dr. Anurag further said,” It is a testimony to technological advancement that patients can look forward to a safe procedure in the cath lab and walk out of the hospital in 2-3 days after valve replacement. Today solutions are available in the form of TAVI for Aortic valve replacement, Mitra clip for a leaky mitral valve and Tric valve for right heart problems.”

One of the key highlights of the program is its comprehensive range of minimally invasive procedures, said Dr. Munish Dev cardiologist.

These innovative techniques enable physicians to repair or replace damaged heart valves, correct structural defects, and restore normal cardiac function with minimal disruption to the patient’s body. By avoiding traditional open-heart surgery, patients benefit from shorter hospital stays, faster recovery times, and reduced risk of complications, Dr Dev maintained.
