ISLAMABAD: A massive explosion rocked Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Friday, killing several people and injuring more than 30 others, police said, as a state of emergency was declared in the city.
The blast, suspected to be a suicide bombing, occurred at the Tarlai Imambargah in the Shehzad Town area shortly after Friday prayers. Security forces and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched relief and evacuation operations.
The injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where emergency protocols were activated to handle the influx of casualties.
A rescue operation is currently underway, and the area has been cordoned off as security agencies investigate the circumstances surrounding the explosion. (Agencies)
