    Proud of my son for saving lives: Martyr cop’s father

    Baramulla, May 25 (KNO): Grief-stricken father of a policeman who was killed in gunfight with militants in Najibhat area of Baramulla Wednesday said he is proud his son made the sacrifice for the sake of the country.

    “I am proud of my son. He laid down his life for the country. Besides he saved the lives of thousands of people, that is why we are happy and proud that our son has been martyred,” Maqsood Ahmad Sheikh told reporters on the sidelines of the wreath laying ceremony of his son at DPL Baramulla. Sheikh, who last spoke to his son on phone three days ago, said that he knows that his son will never return but he gave his life while fighting. “It is a matter of pride for us,” he said.

    The policeman identified as Mudasir Sheikh was killed in fierce gunfight with militants in Najibhat area where Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militants were also killed by security forces.

    Meanwhile, Police chief Dilbag Singh condoled the death of SPO. On his visit to Baramulla few days ago, the DGP had felicitated the slain cop just for good work by him and his team in busting terror module involved in a recent grenade attack on a wine shop in Baramulla.
