PM to inaugurate Khelo India 2

, Feb 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the Khelo India National Winter Games at famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north 's Baramulla district, which is all set to host the second edition of the National games from Friday.
PM Modi will deliver the inaugural address at the 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games tomorrow at around 11:50 AM via video conferencing.
Pertinently, this is the second edition of the National Winter Games Khelo India. The winter games will commence from February 26 and will culminate on March 2nd.
The first edition of the Khelo India Winter Games was also held at Gulmarg in March 2020 and was a roaring success.
Earlier, on Thursday Minister of State for Youth Affairs and , Kiren Rijiju accompanied by Commissioner Secretary and Sports department, Sarmad Hafeez arrived in Gulmarg a day ahead of the start of Winter National Games.
Later in the day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha along with Advisor Farooq Khan and Advisor Rajeev Rai Batnagar also visited Gulmarg in view of the inauguration of the National winter Games.
Sinha in a tweet stated that the second edition of Khelo India will put Jammu and Kashmir on the map of world's finest winter sports destination, saying that it will also give major fillip to the tourism industry of the Union Territory.
“2nd edition of #KheloIndia will put J&K on the map of world's finest winter sports destination. It will also give major fillip to the Jammu & Kashmir tourism industry #KheloIndia #WinterGames,” LG tweeted.
An official said that the Night Skiing event was held on Thursday evening and from 26 Feb, the event will be formally kick-started.
As per the details, around 1200 Athletes and guests from across the country are scheduled to participate in the mega sports event.
The event has been organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and the Winter Games Association of J&K.
The sports activities will include alpine skiing, nordic ski, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, ice hockey, ice skating, ice stock etc. 27 States, Union Territories and Boards are sending their teams to participate in the games.
