NIA arrests two more in Kashmir in militancy case

    In a militancy-related investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two additional people on Saturday in Srinagar and Sopore, north Kashmir.

    According to news agency KNO, the accused Ishfaq Ahmed Wani, resident of Srinagar and Umar Bhat resident of Sopore were held in a case related to conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), and People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF).

    NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10 October 2021 and initiated the investigation.

    So far, a total of 25 accused persons have been arrested in this case by NIA.

    NIA said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to the ultras.

    Further Investigation in the case continues, it said.
