Will not be part of Delhi protest: Cong

Jammu Tawi, July 11: The differences between the coalition partners, National Conference (NC) and the Congress have now deepened further over granting of the Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) as the Congress Party is most likely not to join the proposed protest of the NC at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The differences between the NC and the Congress have deepened so much so that there seems to be no meting point in near future.
The Congress sources said that the NC has been trying to highjack the issue of Statehood which remained the main issue of the Congress ever since the formation NC government in in J&K.
They said that Congress was part of the coalition with the NC but did not join the government maintaining that it will not join the government until Statehood is granted to J&K.
Despite being the coalition partner, the Congress did not join government in J&K led by NC maintaining that Statehood must be granted to J&K after which it will take the call.
“We did not join the J&K government only on the issue of Statehood but now the NC has been trying to highjack this issue”, the Chief Spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Ravinder Sharma, informed the Northlines.
“The invitation to join the protest at Jantar Mantar at New Delhi has been sent to the party high command but we will take an appropriate call at an appropriate time whether to join the protest or not,” the JKPCC Chief Spokesperson said.
The NC has decided to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar at New Delhi to press for the demand of Statehood to the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.
The chief Minister, Omar Abudllah, had said that INDIA Block, NDA and others will be invited for the proposed Statehood protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.
The permission for the protest has so far not been granted. Meanwhile, highly placed sources within the Congress informed that Congress Party will not be part of the protest proposed by the NC at Jantar Mantar, even if the permission for the protest is granted.
