Jammu, Apr 12: In a high-level meeting with senior officials of the Housing and Urban Development Department, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinhacalled for adopting reformative measures to address issues pertaining to master plans and accelerate overall development in Jammu region.
The Lt. Governor underlined the need for integrated planning and strengthening human resources to ensure timely completion of projects. He focused on the need for empowering local bodies like Municipal Corporations and Development Authorities to handle development works in a transparent and efficient manner.
Several issues related to the implementation of master plans and clearance of building permission applications were discussed in detail. The LG directed officials to strictly adhere to prescribed timelines in disposing building plans as any delay causes inconvenience to citizens and investors.
Revising decades-old master plans as per the current needs and proposed infrastructure projects came up as an important topic. The LG set clear expectations that the revision process for master plans should be expedited while upholding planning norms.
Abolishing inactive bodies and streamlining processes to remove unnecessary hurdles in development works was also discussed. The meeting aimed at bringing positive reforms to make Jammu projects globally competitive and a model for good governance.
