New Delhi, Aug 11: Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm today after the Opposition members created a ruckus over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.
As soon as the House assembled, Speaker Om Birla initiated the Question Hour. However, Opposition members soon stormed into the Well of the House, waving placards and shouting slogans.
Despite the noise, Union Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav attempted to answer supplementary questions.
The Speaker told the protesting members that the proceedings of the House had been deliberately disrupted for the past 11 days. He said “this was not appropriate in a democracy”. He added that everyone is given ample opportunity to present their views.
Birla said that creating such disruptions in the House is not proper. “The people of the country are watching everything. I urge all members to return to their seats and participate in the proceedings,” he said.
When his appeal had no effect on the protesting members and the uproar continued to grow, Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House until 2 PM.
