Law and order violators will be dealt with severely: DGP Vaid
Srinagar, Oct 20 : Claiming that police have identified the trouble mongers involved in disrupting public order in different parts of the valley, the Director General Police (Law and order) S P Vaid Wednesday warned that nobody will be allowed to take law in his hands.
“Some miscreants in Srinagar and other parts of the valley are continuously taking law and order in their own hands. I would like to inform that police have identified all of them and that they would not be given free hand to disturb law and order,” DGP S P Vaid informed a local news agency over phone.
Vaid further appealed people to be cooperative with the police for restoring normalcy in valley. “I won't hesitate to say that hundred percent normalcy has not been restored, but yes police is trying its level best to restore it in the valley,” Vaid said.
Commenting on the torching incident of two Sumo vehicles in the Parimpora of Srinagar, one Scorpio of Baramulla and the mysterious fire in some areas of the city, the DGP law and order said that police have identified some miscreants in this regard and that the investigation is on to nab the culprits.
He said that we should not let Kashmir to become Syria or Iraq. “It is our Kashmir and we should not allow it to become Syria or Iraq. Some miscreants are trying to disturb the law and order in the valley but police is dealing with them strictly, but I would like to say that it is the duty of local people that they should keep themselves away from such people.
Stressing on greater synergy among all police components, dealing with Law and order and security of the people, the DGP said that rule of Law is the prime concern which should be ensured every cost.
Meanwhile sources said that police has compiled a fresh list of people, who indulge in incidents of stone-pelting. “Police is conducting raids across the Valley, especially in South Kashmir, to pick up these youth involved in stone pelting and fomenting trouble,” sources said.
Sources said that large number of people has been arrested in South Kashmir districts of Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag and Pulwama while many who figure in the police list have gone into hiding.
According to police sources, youth have been booked for vitiating the peaceful' atmosphere in Valley.
“Some of them had been indulging in incidents of stone pelting and were found to be linked with the separatists. They have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA),” they said.
A top police official said while a large number of youth have been involved in stone pelting incidents for the first time, others were found regularly participating in pro-freedom rallies.
