New Delhi: Several Opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, staged a protest in the Parliament House complex on Tuesday (December 2, 2025), demanding a discussion on electoral reforms and opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Holding posters and placards, the leaders displayed a large banner reading “Stop SIR–Stop Vote Chori” while raising slogans against the government’s handling of the revision exercise.
The Winter Session opened amid turmoil, with repeated adjournments in the Lok Sabha and an Opposition walkout in the Rajya Sabha after the government maintained it was open to a discussion but would not commit to a timeline.
Earlier, on Monday (December 1, 2025), Prime Minister Narendra Modi had criticized the Opposition, accusing it of converting Parliament into a “warm-up arena” for elections or a space to vent frustration after defeat, and even offered to give them tips on bringing positivity to politics.
