JMC should emulate PMC Initiative

Date:

It is advisable for the Municipal Corporation to emulate the good initiative which the Panchkula Municipal Corporation is about to take to make the city trash free. There is no doubt in the fact that the inception of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought in many changes with focus on cleanliness as one of the major ones because the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Indian Premier has changed the course of life of the people of the country as places which earlier used to stink across the length and breadth of the country today are dazzling as country saw the sea change in the mindset of the people after getting inspiration from PM Modi.

In the same context, the news regarding Panchkula Municipal Corporation's upcoming initiative of acting on cue received from the citizens on WhatsApp about places filled with trash and filth, and promise by the PMC to remove the same within a short span of two hours is quite laudable and should be emulated by civic bodies responsible for maintaining cleanliness to make country clean. There is dire need that the Jammu Municipal Corporation also adopts the same line and length, and come out with a similar endeavour to ensure cleanliness although, it could offer lesser time for completing the action as two hours is a bit longer and the same should be less than an hour.

It is pertinent to mention that under the campaign, if a resident spots garbage lying at any spot in the city, they can take a photo of the trash and WhatsApp it to the civic body and consequently the concerned workers will reach the spot as early as possible to remove the trash and ensure cleanliness.

There is no doubt that JMC has already taken many steps using innovation to make Jammu city clean and green but there is always a scope to improve and this initiative if adopted by JMC will go a long way in making the city look clean and serene, which is the inherent desire of every person living in this beautiful place and who loves the Temple City as much as his or her own home.

Moreover, this initiative by the Panchkula Municipal Corporation (PMC) reflects a progressive approach towards civic management and public engagement, elements that are crucial for the success of any cleanliness drive. The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) could greatly benefit from this model, not only in terms of maintaining cleanliness but also in fostering a sense of community responsibility and participation among its citizens. By encouraging residents to actively participate in identifying problem areas, JMC can cultivate a more collaborative and responsive relationship with the community it serves.
