J&K: ‘Op Sheruwali’ Enters 31st Day in Rajouri Forests

Rajouri, Jun 22: Security forces on Monday intensified search and surveillance operations in the forested areas of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district as the anti-terror operation, code-named ‘Operation Sheruwali’, entered its 31st day.

The large-scale counter-terrorism operation is underway in the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan area of the Manjakote sector, where the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary forces are carrying out extensive searches to track and neutralise armed infiltrators believed to be hiding in the rugged forest terrain.

Officials said all security agencies involved in the operation remain on high alert, with search and surveillance continuing across the dense forests to monitor suspicious movement and ensure the safety of local residents.

The operation is progressing as planned, officials said, adding that security forces are maintaining strict vigilance in the area. Additional checkpoints and area domination patrols have also been deployed as part of the ongoing security measures.

Launched in late May, Operation Sheruwali is a multi-agency combing mission targeting terrorists in the dense forest belts of the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan sector. The prolonged operation reflects the determination of security forces to maintain peace and security in the border district.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as search operations continue in the region. (Agencies)
