JAMMU TAWI, Dec 7: On the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid homage to the brave soldiers, sailors, and airmen of India’s Armed Forces. The flag was pinned on the Lieutenant Governor at Raj Bhavan, marking the solemn occasion.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor expressed deep gratitude for the sacrifices made by the armed forces and contributed to the “Armed Forces Flag Day Fund” in their honor. He praised the pivotal role the military plays in ensuring national security, particularly in combating terrorism and safeguarding borders in Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha highlighted the significant contributions of the armed forces to the socio-economic development of the region.
The Lieutenant Governor urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the privileged sections, to donate generously to the Fund, as a gesture of respect and gratitude for the armed forces. He also conveyed his best wishes to all serving and retired military personnel and their families.
Brig. Gurmeet Singh Shan (Retd.), Director of the Sainik Welfare Department, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on various welfare schemes for veterans, Veer Naris, dependents, and serving personnel. Veterans, including Col BS Sambyal (Retd.), Col SS Assla (Retd.), and others, were present at the event.
