 Jammu Tawi | May 26: Four pregnant women were among 91 fresh cases of covid-19 that were reported in union territory on Tuesday taking the toll of total positive cases to 1759 in J&K

In Srinagar, a 90-year-old man succumbed to Covid-19 at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Tuesday, rising death toll in to 24.

The Khaloora, Kulgam resident was admitted at SKIMS on Monday after he was referred from the GMC, Anantnag. “The man was suffering from fever and Pneumonia. He had tested positive on Monday and died this morning,” a doctor at SKIMS said.

So far 24 people—21 in Kashmir division and three in Jammu division – have died due to the virus.

Among 91 new cases, 54 belong to Jammu division, while as 37 are from Kashmir division officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 1411 including 650 recoveries and 21 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 255 including 90 recoveries and 3 deaths.

They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 902 including 647 from Kashmir division and 255 from Jammu division.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 54 from Jammu including 10 from Jammu district, 29 from Ramban, 4 from Kuthua, 2 from Udhampur, 2 from Samba district, 3 from Reasi and 4 from Poonch,” while as 1 from Kulgam, 7 from Srinagar, 12 from Budgam 1 from Kupwara, 4 from Bandipora, 6 from Baramulla, 4 from Ganderbal and 2 from Pulwama in Kashmir division, officials disclosed.

In Jammu division, 109 including 34 recoveries and two deaths are from Jammu district, 53 including 15 recoveries are from Kathua, 39 including 21 recoveries and one death are from Udhampur, 74 including 02 recovery are from Ramban, 29 including 10 recoveries from Samba, 13 including 04 recoveries are from Rajouri, 08 including 01 recovery is from Kishtwar, 12 with no recovery from Poonch, 09 including 03 recoveries are from Reasi and 02 from Doda.

As per the daily information bulletin 142,901 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 32,714 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 902 persons are in hospital isolation while as 62 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 75,626 persons have completed surveillance period and 33,573 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 140,962 samples are available.

Out of 140,962 the number of samples tested negative stands at 139,203 while as 1759  have been tested positive, among them 902 are active and 833 persons have recovered and 24 persons have died.

From Srinagar, Kashmir News Agency ( KNO) adds:

Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar told KNO that out of 590 samples tested at CD hospital 25 were tested positive while as reports of 100 samples are under process and more 230 samples were received on Tuesday.

He said that 25 new cases include 14 from Baramulla, 05 from Baramulla 04 from Ganderbal and two from Pulwama. Dr Khan said that among 25 new cases, 04 were pregnant ladies.

Cases from Baramulla include 70 year old female from Kunzer, 20, 22, 27 and 53 year old males and 8, 25, 27 and 50-year-old females from Hardoo lchloo Baramulla belonging to single family, 40 year old male from Wankara Baramulla, 20-year-old pregnant lady from Sopore, 29-year-old male from Tengpora Baramulla, 27 year old pregnant lady from Tengpora and 35-year-old pregnant lady from Baramulla, he said adding that the patients from Bandipora include 20 and 24 year-old males from Sumbal, 30-year-old male from Tulel Gurez, 25-year-old male from Tulerzoo and 26-year-old male from Dangerpora.

The patients from Ganderbal include 28-year old male from Shuhama Ganderbal, 23-year-old male from Kangan, 32-year-old male from Saloora and 25-year-old pregnant lady from Kangan, he said adding that the patients from Pulwama include a 21-year-old male from Armulla Lassipora and 20-year male from Talangam.

Officials from JVC Bemina said that out of 471 samples tested at the hospital 19 were found positive. Among 19 new cases 12 are from Budgam including 7 from Magam, 04 from Soibug and 01 from Narbal besides that 06 from Srinagar including 03 from Alamgiri Bazar and 02 from Hawal and one from Kuthua.

Meanwhile J&K on Tuesday witnessed 24th death due to Covid -19 as a 90-year-old man from Kulgam district died due to COVID-19 at SKIMS.

Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Dr. Farooq Jan told that a 90-year-old man from Kulgam who was referred from GMC Anantnag on Monday afternoon died at isolation facility of SKIMS on Tuesday morning

The patient was suffering from pneumonia besides having history of chest disease, he said, adding that soon after he was admitted in the hospital, his samples were taken and that came positive on Monday evening. The death toll of covid-19 positive cases in J&K has now reached to 24 including 21 from Kashmir division and 3 from Jammu division

As per officials figures 278 positive cases including four deaths and 113 recoveries are from Anantnag, 228 including four deaths and 17 recoveries are from Kulgam, 189 including six deaths and 126 recoveries are from Srinagar, 143 including one death and 131 recoveries are from Bandipora, 143 including 98 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 129 including 107 recoveries are from Shopian, 166 including 70 recoveries are from Kupwara, 76 including 47 recoveries and two deaths are from Budgam, 31 including 24 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 28 including 10 recoveries are from Pulwama.
