Jammu AIIMS vital for Trauma Care, Disaster Management in J&K, Ladakh: CEO

Jammu Tawi, Feb 15: The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu, Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta on Thursday underscored the institution's steadfast dedication to serving the general public and Security Forces in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, , and neighbouring states in North India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate Jammu AIIMS during his Jammu visit on February 20.

The CEO in a statement here said that AIIMS Jammu pledges to deliver exemplary care for trauma victims, encompassing those afflicted by road traffic accidents, firearm injuries, blast injuries, and disasters of any nature.

The Director communicated that recognizing the alarming toll of road traffic accidents, particularly among the young and working populace, AIIMS Jammu vows to institute specialized protocols and facilities to promptly attend to the unique needs of such victims.

Furthermore, Prof Gupta acknowledged the prevalent challenge of blast and firearm injuries affecting security forces and assured that AIIMS Jammu with a skilled trauma and emergency team will be fully equipped to manage such cases with precision and effectiveness.

He further informed that time is the paramount and decisive factor in achieving optimal outcomes for healthcare services.

“Recognizing this, AIIMS Jammu has installed a helipad to ensure timely transportation of individuals in need to the institute,” he said and in a special message to Security Forces Personnel, he conveyed, “As the Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, I extend my deepest appreciation and gratitude to every soldier for their unwavering dedication in defending our nation.” “Their courage and commitment are the bedrock of our security and freedom. In any medical emergency, our institute (AIIMS Jammu) is ready to provide the highest quality care. Our skilled healthcare professionals are equipped to address your needs with compassion and efficiency. Your well-being is our priority, and we're committed to ensuring you receive the care you deserve. Thank you for your service; your bravery inspires us all, and we're honoured to support your and well-being,” he added.

He further said, “AIIMS Jammu emphasizes addressing not only the physical but also the psychological ramifications of trauma, offering comprehensive support services including counselling and rehabilitation programs. AIIMS Jammu remains vigilant in disaster management, prepared to respond swiftly to natural and man-made calamities through meticulous planning, coordination, and regular training exercises.”

He stressed upon Community engagement and Public as an integral part to AIIMS Jammu's disaster preparedness strategy, alongside collaborations with and international organizations to strengthen collective response capabilities.

Prof Shakti added that in its commitment to excellence, AIIMS Jammu announces plans for a dedicated Centre of Excellence in Trauma Sciences and the Institute of Traumatology in the second phase, aiming to elevate trauma care in the region.

“The institution's multidisciplinary approach, advanced diagnostic tools, surgical expertise, and intensive care facilities ensure comprehensive trauma care from stabilization to rehabilitation,” said Dr Gupta and expressed acknowledgment and reverence for the unmatched pride, gratitude, and respect commanded by Security Forces personnel.

He also reaffirmed that with unwavering commitment, innovation, collaboration, and dedication, AIIMS Jammu reaffirms its mission to safeguard the health and well-being of the public and security forces, setting a benchmark for healthcare institutions globally.
