India Has Undergone Major Transformations in Last 12 Years: PM Modi

NEW DELHI, June 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India has witnessed significant transformations over the last 12 years, with the welfare of the poor and underprivileged remaining at the centre of his government’s policies and initiatives.

Marking the completion of the second year of his third term in office, Modi highlighted several flagship welfare schemes, including Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana and Ayushman Bharat, saying they were aimed at ensuring dignity, opportunity and empowerment for citizens.

“Over the last 12 years, India has witnessed many transformations and at the core of these changes is the welfare of the poor and downtrodden,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.

He said his government’s approach has been guided by the principle of ‘Antyodaya’, with efforts focused on ensuring that the benefits of development reach those who remained deprived for decades.

Modi also underlined the role of technology in improving the lives of the poor, saying digital platforms and the Direct Benefit Transfer system have enabled transparent and efficient delivery of benefits directly to beneficiaries.

According to the Prime Minister, the use of technology has reduced leakages, improved governance efficiency and strengthened public trust in government institutions.

“With #12YearsOfGaribKalyan, the journey of furthering welfare has become a collective movement towards human empowerment and the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he said.

Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for a third consecutive term on June 9, 2024, after the NDA secured another victory in the Lok Sabha elections. He first assumed office on May 26, 2014, and began his second term on May 30, 2019. (Agencies)
