Google now let its users change their ‘gmail usernames’ after two decades

New Delhi:  US-based tech company Google will finally let you change your old-school gmail address to a new one keeping both old and new username intact, said CEO Sundar Pichai on a microblogging site.

Gmail users were restricted to follow a same pattern of mail ID since 2004.

Pichai posted on X, “2004 was a good year, but your Gmail address doesn’t need to be stuck to it.”

“To say goodbye to [email protected] or [email protected] (or whatever you were into the same), go to your Google account settings and choose any name available. You’ll keep your old username and you can sign in with both” the social media post added.

Currently, this feature is only available in the United States.

Gmail is a free, web-based email service provided by Google which was launched in 2004.
