NEW DELHI, Apr 1: The Cabinet Committee on Security will meet at 7 pm on Wednesday in the national capital to review the evolving situation amid the ongoing West Asia conflict and assess its implications for India.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions following a joint military strike by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory on February 28, which reportedly killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior figures, triggering a strong response from Tehran.
Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a CCS meeting where the global situation and India’s preparedness were reviewed. Officials presented assessments on potential impacts across key sectors, including agriculture, fertilisers, petroleum, power, trade, shipping, MSMEs, and supply chains.
The government evaluated short-, medium-, and long-term economic implications of the conflict, along with measures to safeguard food, fuel, and energy security for citizens.
The availability of fertilisers for the upcoming Kharif season and alternative sourcing options were also discussed to ensure continuity in agricultural production. Authorities noted that adequate coal stocks at power plants are expected to prevent electricity shortages.
The meeting is likely to further refine India’s response strategy to mitigate economic disruptions and ensure stability amid the ongoing geopolitical crisis.
