Srinagar, Aug 21: Former Legislator from Rajouri Choudhary Qamar Hussain on Wednesday rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Srinagar.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti welcomed Choudhary and said the new joining would make people's voice in Jammu and Kashmir stronger.
At the function, she said, not just the PDP but the whole of Jammu and Kashmir has been passing through a “difficult phase” since the abrogation of Article 370.
“There is fear everywhere. In such a scenario, when new people join us and strengthen our party, it strengthens the voice of the people of J&K,” the PDP Chief told reporters .
“We want peace in Jammu and Kashmir. It should not be like the silence of graveyards but peace with dignity,” the former J&K Chief Minister said.
Hussain was expelled by the PDP in 2020 and he joined Altaf Bukhari-led Apni Party.
Meanwhile, two young socio-political leaders Javid Iqbal Ganie from Palhalan Pattan Baramulla district and Zaffar Ahmad Mir Lasjan Srinagar also joined PDP. Mehbooba welcomed the new entrants in the party fold.
The joining in the PDP came a day after two party leaders Suhail Bukahri and Harbaksh Singh left the party apparently over the denial of party ticket for the upcoming Assembly polls.
