    Farmers’ protest in Punjab hit train service in Jammu

    Tawi, Dec 21 (KINS) Owing to ‘Rail Roko Andolan' by farmers seeking loan waiver in , train service were affected in Jammu as authorities on Monday cancelled 16 trains.

    The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) on Monday held a ‘rail roko' agitation in Amritsar's Devidaspura seeking farm loan waiver, compensation, and for the kin of farmers who died during the agitation against the repealed three farm laws.

    Official sources here said that protesting farmers blocked the Jammu-Jalandhar section for rail traffic due to which all 16 trains from Jammu, Katra and Udhampur railway stations were canceled due to the agitation.

    “The trains departing from respective stations were also stopped midway and due to sudden cancellation of trains, the passengers faced a lot of problems,” they added.

    A railway official said that Begampura Express from Jammu to Varanasi, Pooja Express from Jammu to Ajmer, Duronto Express running from Jammu to Delhi, Jammu Kolkata from Jammu to Kolkata besides express trains from Jammu to Ahmedabad, Rajdhani Express from Jammu to New Delhi, Shalimar Express from Jammu to Jaisalmer, Express from Jammu to Howrah, Jhelum from Jammu to Pune Express were among canceled on Monday due to the farmers protest.( KINS)
