Jammu Tawi, Feb 24: The Crime Branch Jammu (CBJ) on Wednesday claimed to have arrested persons including a kingpin involved in racket of fabricating fake Contractors cards. It said that the raids in this regard continued today.
“Acting tough against the accused involved in the racket of preparing fake contractor registration cards, Crime Branch Jammu continued raids in Anantnag and Srinagar Districts in Kashmir Valley and arrested three accused criminals, who are involved in the racket of fabricating fake contractor cards,” a statement reads.
According to the statement, the Kingpins, who were arrested today were identified as Bilal Ahmed Wani, son of Muhammad Akber Wani of Pashwara, Dalgate, Srinagar, Bilal Ahmed Dar, son of Gul Muhammad Dar of Dabwane Anantnag (Supervisor in R&B PWD Ramban) and Muhammad Amin Rather, son of Ghulam Muhammad Rather of Dharna Tehsil, Dooru, District Anantnag (Agent), saying that they were arrested in a case under FIR number 01/2020 under section 420, 465, 466, 467, 471, 120-B IPC of Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu.
“Their hideouts have also been searched under orders of the Judicial Magistrate. Bilal Ahmed Wani is a kingpin for operating the racket. He is presently serving in UEED Srinagar and was earlier dismissed from service but was later reinstated into service after 15 years through the Court of law in 2016,” CBJ said.
“The accused were not cooperating in the investigation of the case and were constantly on run to evade arrest by frequently changing their locations ever since the instant case was registered in Crime Branch Jammu to unearth the racket, following receipt of a complaint regarding manipulations in procurement of contractor registration certificates
Four arrests have already been made by Crime Branch, Jammu in the case,” it added.
The statement said that a written complaint was lodged in Crime Branch Jammu by Contractors of District Doda through Shadi Lal and Lal Din of Doda, alleging that the accused among others had managed fake registration cards from the office of Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department Kashmir, Silk factory Rajbagh Srinagar to grab government money and there is a gang of criminals who are fabricating such type of fake documents.
