The ‘Golden lady' of India's electronic journalism Barkha Dutt in a tweet has commented “So while we are on subject of poor journalism does this idiocy deserve laughs, contempt or a legal notice? Curious” in a reaction to the report published by the Northlines – “Big Expose: It was Barkha Dutt who planted, trained and wrote script for Gurmehar Kour” that went viral on social media
India is home to 4 billion people protected by Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Indian Constitution. And there are duties and so on and so forth. Let us not get into that and contain this piece to the most infamously used Fundamental Right to Speech and Expression Article 19(1) a.
A year ago there was a video that effervesced with a young girl named Gurmehar Kaur's feelings about “war” and how it claimed the life of her father Martyr Capt. Mandeep Singh in the year 1999. The video revolves around 9 points stating the cons of war and the present state of things between India and Pakistan.
Anomaly
The video however contained one major factual error wherein Gurmeher claimed herself to be the daughter of Captain Mandeep Singh the martyr of “Kargil”. The statement on a placard displayed under seemingly orchestrated manner attempted to differentiate between the sacrifices of Martyrs of Kargil and Martyrs of other security and anti-insurgency operations with a hint of ambiguity which looks like an honest mistake on the outset but is a mischief in reality. Gurmeher seems to have become a programmed instrument in the hands of some leftists and so-called liberal element in our media and ‘intelligentsia' that she did not hesitate in changing the Epitaph of her father- a Martyr to Kargil War Hero (Martyr).
Capt Mandeep Singh of 49 Armoured Division Regiment attached to 4 Rashtriya Rifles, who was killed in Kupwara area of Jammu Kashmir on August 6 in counter insurgency when terrorists stormed an Army camp of 4 Rashtriya Rifles. He was cremated with full military honours at his home town Jallandhar on August 08, 1999. The news of Capt Mandeep's cremation was carried and reported in the media on August 09, 1999 (http://www.tribuneindia.com/1999/99aug09/punjab.htm#11), while the Kargil war ended on July 26, 1999. The citation above does not mean dishonor in any way to the Indian Brave heart.
So the moot point is: How Gurmehar Kaur mistook in mentioning the place where her father achieved martyrdom? The girl who is believed to be 20 years young and quite aware about the horrors of war, studying in the Delhi University made an error about her father's death in a very professionally made video. Could it really be an honest mistake? Guess we will find out soon.
The Conundrum
The video was released in two languages on different dates April 28, 2016 in Hindi and May 3, 2016 in English.
Well on May 2, 2016 a journalist known for her Pro Pakistan, Pro Separatist stand, also the then Consulting Editor NDTV, BarkhaDutt interviewed Gurmehar Kaur and NDTV tweeted the excerpts from the interview.

Check all these tweets made by NDTV on May 2nd,2016. In each and every tweet they have referred to “Gurmehar Kaur as The Kargil Hero's daughter.”
Ram Subramanayam who shot the video of Gurmehar is an activist who makes films for Aam Aadmi Party. That raises another question how affiliated is she to AAP.
He has admitted in a video that he has been conducting a ‘political and peace' campaign for which Gurmeher “volunteered” to be part of. Viewing the video carefully will make it amply clear that the video was specially designed and timed to some goal.
So Gurmehar and NDTV made a common mistake or was Gurmehar given a script to follow?
Gurmehar Kour held a press conference with John Dayal and Kavita Krishnan on Nov 2nd, 2016. Its pertinent to mention that John and Kavita are the Left wing members with an anti national stand.
The question is whether the whole Soldier of Peace gig was well planned and executed by the Left, “A Political Party” and facilitated by “a Channel” and “Pro Pak Journalist”?

Its absolutely absolutely fine to have an opinion. But there is a difference between an opinion and a conjecture.
In the present case, media and politics managed to manipulate a girl barely 20 years of age into believing what she is doing is for the sake of humanity and that she could be the next soldier of peace. Only her decision to pull back from the campaign was an indicator of how she was deceived.
The so called threats that she got were later found out to not be from ABVP activist but from one of the leftists who was associated to the whole Op.
Once the all the ingredients were mixed a Left led media driven dish was prepared and served.
