Rawalpindi, Feb 7: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan, 73, and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 17 years in prison each on Saturday in the Toshakhana 2 corruption case.
Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, faces multiple legal cases following his ouster from power in 2022.
Special court judge Shahrukh Arjumand delivered the verdict at Rawalpindi’s high-security Adiala Jail, where Khan is currently lodged.
The couple was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Pakistan Penal Code and seven years under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (Agencies)
