Emerging Technologies Have Redefined Warfare, Says Rajnath Singh

HYDERABAD, June 13: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said emerging technologies have altered the very definition of warfare and urged new recruits to the armed forces to remain mentally prepared for the changing nature of modern conflicts.

Addressing the Combined Graduation Parade at the Indian Air Force Academy near Hyderabad, Singh said traditional military advantages enjoyed by major powers are diminishing as smaller nations can now inflict significant damage using specialised weapons and innovative tactics.

“Earlier, it seemed that the big powers had a decisive edge on the battlefield. But now, even small powers can cause heavy losses with dangerous weapons and new tactics. You should be mentally ready for any form of warfare,” he told the graduating officers.

The Defence Minister also congratulated the women pilots commissioned into the Indian Air Force, saying their induction has made the force more powerful, balanced and robust, reflecting the strength of an inclusive military.

Highlighting the IAF’s contribution beyond combat operations, Singh praised its role in high-risk rescue and humanitarian missions, including efforts to ensure the safety of foreign nationals during crises.

He said such humanitarian operations have strengthened India’s image globally and showcased the country’s culture and values. (Agencies)
