Educational institutions, organisations drench in patriotic fervour

Like other parts of the country, various educational institutions, organisations and political parties celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm in the Jammu region on Thursday.

Unfurling of the national flag, march past and cultural activities were held to mark the occasion.

University of Jammu

The function was attended by a huge gathering of teaching faculty, officers, staff and students of the varsity. Vice Chancellor Prof RD Sharma unfurled the national flag and released Tricoloured balloons. The Vice Chancellor, in his address, said the day had a great significance for educational institutions.

SKUAST

Vice Chancellor of Sher-e- University of Agricultural Sciences and Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma hoisted the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem at Chatha.

Government Middle School, Chhan Morian

Headmistress of the school Uma Kumari unfurled the national flag and took the salute of the march past while students of the school presented cultural programmes.

Army Public School, Udhampur

Chief guest Col Jagdish Gadekar, SO to Chairman of the school, hoisted the national flag. Principal Sanjeev Kumar, in his address, reminded the teachers to inculcate the core values of patriotism, nationhood and honesty in their students.

Canara Bank Officers Association

The Jammu unit of the association celebrated the day at Suchetgarh Post on the Indo-Pak Line of Control. General secretary of the association GV Manimaran, who was on a two-day visit to Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Central Bureau of Investigation

The Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI-Jammu celebrated the day by unfurling the national flag under the supervision and guidance of JP Mishra. Sweets were distributed among the staff members and jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Civil Airport

The day was celebrated along with the staff of the Airports Authority of (AAI), all the airlines, J&K police and CRPF personnel. The national flag was hoisted by the Airport Director, Devendra Kumar Gautam. Speaking on the occasion, Gautam briefed about the achievements during the last six months and also narrated the future plans of expansion and modification of the existing terminal building.

Army celebrations

Celebrations were carried out by the Indian Army and residents at various places in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Despite the inclement , the celebrations witnessed hoisting of the national flag and singing of the National Anthem along with cultural programmes by the schoolchildren.

Rashtriya Rifles Battalions

The 68th Republic Day was celebrated with great fervour by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalions under the aegis of the Rashtriya Rifles Force Headquarters based at Reasi. The national flag was hoisted in presence of a large number of students at Mahore, Bagga, Samote, Gool, Talwara, Nowshera, Kalal and Kalakote.

Powergrid function

Celebrations were held at Grid Bhawan, near Bahu Plaza. Chief guest Anil Jain, Executive Director, unfurled the Tricolour. A colorful function was organised at Bishnah, under the aegis of Dogra Sadar Sabha, wherein a large number of prominent citizens, including sarpanches, panches, numberdars and representatives of the border area were present.

Gandhi Nagar Mandal

On the eve of the Republic Day, BJP Gandhi Nagar Mandal general secretary Kulbir Charak and state secretary Ishant Gupta hoisted the national flag at Ward No. 50 and 51 at Channi Himmat, Gandhi Nagar Constituency.

Celebrations were held with enthusiasm at the open air theatre in Durga Bhawan, Janipur. The function was inaugurated by senior artist KK Joshi, who also hoisted the Tricolour.

Meanwhile, functions were also organised by Government Higher Secondary School, Bahu Fort; Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jullaka Mohalla; Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar; Fatima Convent High School, Bishnah; Shakti Public School Akhnoor; Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal; Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Raipur Bantalab; Jagti Tenement Committee/Soan Kashmir Front; Salal Power Station; National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, Regional Office, Narwal; Kranti Dal; Jan Kalayan Morcha; Congress Seva Dal; National Mazdoor Conference; and Narwal Pain Mohalla Welfare Committee etc.
