Jammu Tawi, Jun 16: A policeman died after falling from the fourth floor of his battalion headquarters building in Poonch district on Tuesday, officials said.
Head Constable Mushtaq Ahmad, a Srinagar resident, was retrieving clothes he had left out for drying on the top floor as the weather turned cloudy, the officials said.
They said the cop lost his balance and fell from the building located in the Behra area of Mendhar, resulting in his death on the spot.
The body of the deceased was shifted to Sub-District Hospital Mendhar for a postmortem examination, officials said, adding that police have started inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of his death.
