‘Constitute SIT in murders, land grabbing cases’

    Date:

Tawi, Nov 5: Expressing serious concern over the rising land
grabbing and criminal activities with two murders having taken place
in the border belt besides the drugs and narcotics menace taking toll
of youth, the District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh,
Taranjit Singh Tony has appealed to the Director General of Police
(DGP) Dilbag Singh to initiate drastic measures to check such
    activities at the earliest.

In a statement issued here today, the DDC member said that drug
peddlers are pumping in narcotics especially Chitta as a result of
which more and more youth are falling into their trap and this trend
needs to be checked before it is too late. Moreover, land grabbing
incidents are also on the rise in this belt Tony added.

Referring to land grabbing incidents, the DDC said that real owners of
the land are moving from pillar to post for getting possession of
their own land with all relevant records of ownership as per revenue
record but all in vain as land grabbers rule the roost. One such case
is children's grave yard of R S Pura where the history sheeters of RS
Pura Police Station are openly involved in land grabbing are brazenly
on the prowl to grab more land under full political patronage.

Tony lamented that despite Supreme Court order for restoring the water
bodies, people enjoying local political patronage continue to encroach
water bodies. He said that it is an irony that even LG's resolve to
get such lands vacated under the direction of PM Modi has been failed
by the Revenue and Police authorities due to their inaction. He cited
one such specific case in village Bajechak where he claimed that
encroachment of a water body (Talab) measuring about 13 kanal was
brought to the notice of DC Jammu during his tour to Suchetgarh in
June 2021 no action stands taken against the encroachers till date.

Asserting that common man is the worst sufferer in land grabbing
cases, he said that police should come down heavily on all land
grabbers involved in more than 10 cases in RS Pura and those involved
in criminal and land grabbing activities should be put behind bars
under PSA.Tony appealed to the DGP to constitute a high-powered SIT
under the supervision of SSP Jammu to bring out the truth in the
murders as it does not appear to be simple and straight murders.
