China’s expansionist designs

Date:

Omkar Dattatray

As is the history of China, it has expansionist designs and wants to expand its territorial limits but which is a peace loving and tolerant nation does not believe in expansionist designs. From the times immemorial she has never nursed the designs of expanding its boundaries unlike its neighbor china which has expansionist designs on its sleeves. Imperialism or expansionist designs of china as it has eight borders but eighteen issues. We should know the countries that have territorial and border disputes with China. Japan is one such country. It includes East China Sea, particularly the Senkaku islands.

It has border dispute with Nepal. China claims parts of Nepal dating back to Sino-Nepalese wars in 1788-1792. China claims they are parts of Tibet and hence part of China. In North Korea it claims Balkdu mountain and Jindao. China has also on occasion claimed all of North Korea on historical ground. Parts of South China sea particularly Scarborough shoal and Spartly islands are claimed by China. So far as Russia is concerned, 160000 sq. Kms still unilaterally claimed by China. Singapore – it claims parts of South China Sea. In South Korea it claims parts of East China Sea. China has also many times claimed all of South Korea on territorial grounds. China also claims many parts of Bhutan Kingdom. Such are the expansionist designs of China that it claims all of Taiwan. So far as Kazakhstan is concerned there are continued unilateral claims by China on Kazakhstan territory despite new agreements. China claims large areas of Laos on historical precedent.
In Brunel Spartly island is a disputed group of more than 750 reefs, islets, atoees, cays and islands of South China sea. China claims Tajikastan on historical precedent. China has on occasions claimed parts of Cambodia on historical grounds. China claims parts of Malaysia. China claims whole of Mongolia on historical precedent. In Afghanistan, Afghan provinces of Bahadekhshan is claimed by China. China still encroaches on Afghan territory. As said at the outset China has border with 8 countries and disputes with 18 countries and what does China want. It only vindicates the stand that China wants to illegally usurp the territories of its neighboring countries and thus she nurses expansionist designs and motives which is unbecoming of a civilized nation. China is a power or put it appropriately it is a super power with veto powers and is the one among the big five powers and a permanent member of UNSC and hence it mighty nation and has territorial ambitions which is a cause of concern. China threatens its small neighbors. So far as India is concerned Chinese stand on Doklam is imperialistic.
According to RSS Chinese stand on Dokhlam is imperialist and expansionist designs. The 2017 China India military stand of occurred between China and India as Doklam or Zhoglam known as Donglong in China. China attempted to expand its territory. In 2018, India was fighting Doklam war with China. The stand off between India and China on the Doklam issue may not have blown into a major war or crises. Doklam is strategically located close to the Siliguri cooridor which connect main India with Doklam. The 2017 China-India border standoff refers to military adventurism of the big brother China. Bhutan does not want war between India and China. China believe Doklam to be a disputed territory between Bhutan and China. It therefore contests the presence of Indian army in the region as a transgression. The 2017 China-India border standoff or Doklam standoff refers to military border standoff between the Indian armed forces and the people's liberation army of China over Chinese construction of a road in Doklam near a tri-junction border area known as Donglang or Donglang coachang.
Doklam region is a disputed territory located in the Chumbi valley at a tri-junction of India, Bhutan and China. China claims ownership of Doklam region strategically important for India, China and Bhutan. Thus there was tension between India and China but thank God crises did not escalate into a war and the parties were dictated by reason. Doklam is strategically important for China, India and Bhutan and if China occupies it, it will be a defense security risk for India and is not accepted by India. All this boils down to the fact that China has imperialistic and expansionist designs and that china want its hegemony in the neighboring countries and wants to influence south Asian region and its balance.
Anyway we can say that China is interfering and infringing the territorial sovereignty of its neighbors and it is a cause of concern. China should behave properly and not indulge in skirmishes with its neighbors and should shun its policy of expansionist designs. China infringes upon the territorial integrity and sovereignty of its neighbors but that country should abide by conventions and tenets and not indulge in expansionist designs. But that is very difficult given the intensions of China.
