Security force recovered narcotics worth Rs 65 cr, 2 arrested in Kupwara

Srinagar, Jun 27: In yet another major success against “Narco Terror” in the valley, security forces recovered 13.5 kg narcotic substance worth Rs 65 crore and arrested two persons and recovered two pistols and four grenades in the frontier district of Kupwara.

A police spokesman said on Saturday afternoon that troops of Army and police conducted a joint operation in Kupwara in north Kashmir during which two members of Narco-Terror were arrested.

Security forces also recovered 13.5 kg narcotic substance worth Rs 65 crores, he said adding two pistols and four hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

Describing it a major success he said a case has been registered and investigation taken up.

This was the second recovery of narcotic substance in the Kupwara district this month. On June 11 security forces at Handwara in Kupwara busted a narco-militant module of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT). Security forces recovered Rs 1.34 Crore cash and 21 kg Heroine worth Rs 100 Crore from the possession of three LeT associates.Later, J&K police constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to reach out to the bottom of the case and find out for whom the money and drugs were meant to be supplied.   Police had said that the three Lashkar associates were in touch with Pakistan and their main aim was to strengthen the Lashkar roots in Kashmir besides supplying drugs across Kashmir.”

The accused were identified as Iftikhar Indrabi, a resident of Rajwar, Handwara, a notorious drug peddler and is already involved in many relevant cases, Abdul Moomin Peer of Waskura, Handwara, and Islam ul Haq peer of Waskura, Handwara.
