DEO holds meeting with political parties

To discuss the preparation of Lok Sabha Election 2019, District Election Officer, Udhampur Dr. Piyush Singla today convened a meeting of the representatives of various recognized /Regional political parties here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
DEO Udhampur appealed to the representatives of various political parties to refrain from any activity which violates MCC (Model code of conduct). Brief issues related to MCC were highlighted by Nodal officer MCC ADDC Udhampur. The representative of political parties were also informed about the various aspects of election process including the model code of conduct, EVM/VVPAT awareness camps , media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC). He urged the political parties to follow the laid down guidelines to ensure free and fair election. He further introduced political parties about various IT initiatives taken by Election Commission of (ECI) including SUVIDHA and C-VIGIL and detail presentation about their application was given. The DEO appealed all the representatives of political parties to co-operate with District administration for peaceful and fair conduct of . DEO also appealed representatives of political parties to use environmental friendly material in campaigning and avoid plastic and other non biodegradable material. DEO apprised them about initiatives taken by District Administration to facilitate PWDs (Person with Disabilities) to make elections inclusive and accessible. The representatives of all political parties gave assurance to DEO for their full cooperation in the forthcoming elections. Among others, Additional District Development Commissiner, Ashok Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioiner, Gurvinderjeet Singh, Deputy District Election Officer, Kusum Chib, District Social Welfare Officer, Sana Khan, DIO NIC, Anil Sharma and other district Officers besides representative of various political parties were present in the meeting.
