Ceasefire can’t be one-sided, be it Pakistan or militants: BJP

Date:

Srinagar, May 11

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President and In-charge J&K affairs, Avinash Rai Khanna on Friday said that “ceasefire” can't be one-sided be it Pakistan or militants and asked Pakistan to show respect to “ceasefire” agreement during the holy month of Ramdhan.
He said, ” “ceasefire” has to be from both sides be it the militants attacking security forces on plains in and or the Pakistan violating “ceasefire” on borders. We never targeted Pakistan but the troops of that country fire on our borders and killings of both forces personnel and civilians pain us. Pakistan is a Muslim country and should show respect to the ceasefire agreement during the holy month of Ramadhan.”
About the unanimous proposal of the All Party meeting for ceasefire with the militants, Khanna said “We don't oppose the “ceasefire” but only want the other side to offer ceasefire from its side.”
In reply to a question on “ceasefire” with militants, Khanna said if militants attack security forces is it possible that security forces will watch bullets from the other side targeting them, obviously not. “ceasefire” has to be from both the sides and let militants show restraint the government would reciprocate.” (KNS)
