Heart patients worst affected as liabilities run in crores

Jammu Tawi, Jul 23: A very serious health issue has come to fore for the patients visiting different hospitals of Jammu, especially the high-tech Super Specialty Hospital (SSH), as no patient has availed the benefit of central government’s Ayushman Bharat since the last around 20 days.
The patients visiting different departments of SSH Jammu are being denied treatment under Ayushman Bharat as the companies supplying implants and other requisite medical material and ensuring free treatment for the patients under Ayushman Bharat have refused to fund patients due to non-payment of their dues pending since long.
“All the patients visiting different departments of SSH are not getting the benefit of Ayushman Bharat, especially the ones visiting the Cardiology Department,” official sources informed the Northlines.
The worst affected are the heart patients visiting the Cardiology Department at SSH as the companies have stopped supplying Pacemakers due to non-payment of dues running in crores.
“A payment of around Rs 35 crores is pending since long which the government has not paid to the companies supplying the pacemakers and other implants/medical material required for different departments of SSH,” they said.
Sources further informed that Cardiology Department is the worst affected as no pacemaker has been provided since the last more than 20 days.
More than 200 patients at SSH have been waiting since the last more than 20 days for implanting of pacemaker as also the stents.
“Out of Rs 35 crores, the Cardiology Department has a liability of around Rs 20 crores, which has not been paid due to which no pacemaker has been given to SSH’s Cardiology Department,” they further informed.
It may be mentioned here that there are 6 department in SSH Jammu namely, Cardiology, CTVS, Neurology, Neurology, Urology and Nephrology.
The patients in all these departments are being denied treatment under Ayushman Bharat since the last more than 20 days.
It may be mentioned here that State Health Agency (SHA) gives funds to the hospitals and then the hospitals pay these to the Amrit Pharmacy, which then pays to the different companies for helping patients under Ayushman Bharat.
It may be mentioned that the Cardiology Department’s OPD witnesses highest influx of patients more than 1350 every week.
