Ayodhya, June 19: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday asserted that the truth regarding the controversy surrounding the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra would emerge through the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe and assured that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.
Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for 126 development projects worth over ₹378 crore, including a Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital in the Rudauli Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister appealed to devotees to maintain restraint until the SIT completes its investigation.
Referring to reports that surfaced in the media regarding Ayodhya, Yogi said the state government had constituted the SIT at the request of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to establish the facts.
“The SIT will separate truth from falsehood and bring out the complete facts. If anyone possesses documentary evidence, it should be submitted before the SIT,” he said.
Making an appeal to Ram devotees, the Chief Minister said, “Shri Ram taught us the values of dignity and restraint. Our ancestors struggled for 500 years while maintaining decorum for the birthplace of Bhagwan Shri Ram. People should wait another 15 days. If anyone is found guilty, no matter who they are, they will not be spared.”
Yogi alleged that attempts were being made to malign Ayodhya and hurt the sentiments of Ram devotees before the completion of the investigation.
Criticising the opposition, particularly the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress, the Chief Minister accused them of adopting “double standards” on issues related to Lord Ram and Ayodhya.
He alleged that those who had earlier questioned the existence of Lord Ram, ordered police action against kar sevaks and opposed the construction of the Ram Temple were now seeking to lecture others on respecting Ram devotees.
“Those who insulted Ram Bhakts and offered Fatiha at the graves of mafias should not preach to us,” he remarked.
Targeting Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Yogi claimed that he had neither visited the Ram Temple nor allowed party legislators to undertake a visit to Ayodhya when such a proposal had been made.
“Their devotion is not towards Ram; they are people who worship Babur,” the Chief Minister said.
He further alleged that the Samajwadi Party had insulted former SP leader and current minister Manoj Pandey for supporting a visit to Ayodhya.
Highlighting the transformation of Ayodhya in recent years, Yogi said the city had witnessed unprecedented development, including four-lane connectivity, the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ram Ki Paidi redevelopment, and infrastructure linked to the Panchkosi, 14-Kosi and 84-Kosi parikramas.
He claimed that political parties opposing the BJP were uncomfortable with Ayodhya’s emerging identity and development.
The Chief Minister also criticised previous governments, alleging that before 2017 they had neglected areas such as Kamakhya Dham and failed to provide adequate infrastructure and welfare benefits.
“Those who had no time beyond constructing boundary walls around graveyards could never have installed a statue of Jhalkari Bai,” he said.
During the event, Yogi asked local MLA Ramchandra Yadav to submit proposals for further development of Maa Kamakhya Dham and thanked residents for attending the programme despite the intense heat.
He highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the state government to honour women freedom fighters and national icons, including the establishment of three new Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) battalions named after Avanti Bai Lodhi, Jhalkari Bai and Uda Devi, in which only women personnel will be recruited.
The Chief Minister also recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters such as Mangal Pandey, Maharani Lakshmibai, Dhan Singh Kotwal and Bandhu Singh, stressing the need to inspire younger generations through their legacy.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Panch Pran, Yogi urged citizens to respect national heroes and security forces and discharge their responsibilities with honesty.
He said Uttar Pradesh, once labelled a “BIMARU” state, had emerged as a growth engine of the country’s economy through collective efforts over the past nine years.
“Development and heritage are being respected through a new Uttar Pradesh, a new Ayodhya and a new Rudauli,” he said, urging people to continue supporting the “double-engine government” for accelerated development.
