JKSRTC to make all arrangements for transport of devotees

Jammu Tawi, June 12: The Government has pulled up its socks for making successful and ensure safe conduct of the Mela Kheer Bhawani, the most pious celebration of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs), and the JKSRTC Department has been directed to make available all the necessary transport facilities to ferry the KPs from Jammu to Ganderbal where Mela Kheer Bhawani is held every year.
The Mela Kheer Bhawani will be organized and supervised by the Relief and Rehabilitation Department.
On the government directions, the transport facility for the KP devotees of Mela Kheer Bhawani will be made available by the JKSRTC under tight security.
Apart from carrying the KP devotees in the different kinds of buses, security personnel will also be part of the convoy to meet any emergency, sources said.
“The Relief and Rehabilitation Department will provide us the information regarding the number of vehicles required for the Mela Kheer Bhawani a week before the start of this Mela”, Managing Director, JKSRTC, Rasheed Ahmed War said.
No Devotee will be allowed to travel in any vehicle other than deployed by the JKSRTC, sources said.
On the requirement requested by the Rehabilitation Department, we will provide the requisite number of buses for the KP devotees intending to participate in the Kheer Bhawani Mele, he said.
The holy Kheer Bhawani Mela will start from 22nd of this month. The main convoy of buses carrying KPs from all across India will leave for Ganderbal in Kashmir from Jagti Township to participate in the Mela.
Meanwhile, special security arrangements have been put in place at Jagti Township and other areas of Jammu where the KPs have been putting up.
How much number of vehicles are required for ferrying the KPs for Mela Kheer Bhawani will be decided on the request of Relief and Rehabilitation Department, the JKSRTC MD said.
We are all prepared to provide the vehicles for the devotees of Mela Kheer Bhawani right from Jammu to Kashmir and back to Jammu, he said.
