Jammu Tawi: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted district-level inspection committees across all districts to carry out regular monitoring of hostel facilities functioning in the Union Territory.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, the committees will be headed by the Additional District Development Commissioner in each district and will include the Programme Officer ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Social Welfare Officer, and Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs as members.
The committees have been tasked with conducting monthly inspections of hostels and evaluating key aspects including food quality and safety, hygiene and sanitation standards, living conditions of inmates, infrastructure adequacy, drinking water availability, waste disposal systems, maintenance of records, and utilisation of funds.
Officials said the objective is to ensure proper management and welfare of hostel residents and to strengthen accountability in the functioning of such facilities across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The panels will also be empowered to recommend corrective measures for improving infrastructure, safety standards, and overall administration of hostel institutions.
As per the order, the committees have been directed to submit monthly inspection reports to the respective Deputy Commissioners for further action by concerned departments.
