Srinagar, May 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered an inquiry into the Bhargi-Kunan road tragedy in Doda district and suspended two engineers pending investigation into the incident.
According to Government Order No. 184-PW(R&B) of 2026 dated May 26, Engineer-in-Chief (Secretary Technical), Public Works (R&B) Department, Er. Purshotam Kumar, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the incident that occurred during construction work on the Bhargi to Kunan road in Block Gandoh.
The inquiry pertains to the execution of a 6-metre span culvert on the road stretch in Doda district.
The government has directed the Inquiry Officer to submit a detailed report within 15 days from the issuance of the order.
Pending inquiry into their conduct, two officials have been placed under suspension with immediate effect. The suspended officers are Er. Naveen Kumar, Incharge Assistant Executive Engineer, and Er. Imtiaz Ahmed Shah, Junior Engineer of PMGSY Division Thathri, Sub Division Gandoh.
During the suspension period, both officials will remain attached with the Office of the Chief Engineer, PMGSY Jammu, and will be entitled to suspension allowance as per rules.
