Udhampur Adm Bans Unauthorized Sale of Army Camouflage Uniform

JAMMU, May 12: The Udhampur district administration has imposed a complete ban on the unauthorized sale of the newly introduced Indian Army camouflage uniform to prevent impersonation and misuse.

District Magistrate Minga Sherpa said the decision was taken following reports that anti-social elements could exploit the uniform to pose as Army personnel, posing serious security risks. Udhampur’s proximity to key defence establishments, including the Northern Command headquarters, makes the issue particularly sensitive.

The administration has prohibited all unauthorised shops from selling the new camouflage fabric or uniforms meant for armed forces personnel. Authorities stressed that only authorised personnel should have access to such materials.

Police and enforcement teams have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been specifically tasked with monitoring markets to prevent any illegal sale of Army-pattern fabric.

Officials warned that strict action will be taken against violators. The administration has also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of misuse or illegal sale of military uniforms to the police or district authorities.

The move aims to strengthen security and curb impersonation attempts in the district.
