    Mukesh Singh Takes Over As DGP, Ladakh

    Leh, Jan 16: Senior Indian Police Service officer Mukesh Singh on Friday took over as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Ladakh, marking a key leadership change at a time of heightened focus on law enforcement, border management and internal security in the strategically important region.

    A 1996-batch IPS officer, Singh formally assumed charge during the afternoon, officials said. His appointment is expected to strengthen policing mechanisms in Ladakh, which faces unique geographical and security challenges.

    The newly appointed DGP brings with him extensive and diverse policing experience, having held several crucial assignments in Jammu and Kashmir as well as in central armed police forces. His past roles include Additional Director General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Additional Director General Jammu, Inspector General ITBP, Inspector General Jammu, Inspector General Crime Jammu and Kashmir, and Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency.

    Singh has also served as Senior Superintendent of Police in multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where he dealt with law and order situations, counter-insurgency operations and crime management during challenging periods.

    A senior police official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Singh’s wide-ranging experience in border security, internal security and criminal investigations is expected to enhance the overall functioning of the Ladakh Police.

    The Ladakh Police fraternity welcomed the new DGP, expressing confidence that his leadership would further improve professionalism, coordination and operational efficiency within the force. (KNT)
