Jammu, Dec 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, met in Jammu on Wednesday morning and approved several departmental proposals, including promotions in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department and the establishment of an Animal Protection Board, officials said.
The meeting, held at 9 am at the Chief Minister’s residence, reviewed key administrative matters related to governance, including issues of electricity supply, reservation policies, and winter preparedness. Cabinet approval was granted for promotions and service-related cases of R&B officer cadres after detailed discussion, while financial support was sanctioned to strengthen cooperative societies in the livestock and fisheries sectors.
Cabinet Minister Javed Rana said multiple agenda items were cleared, with emphasis on resolving long-pending administrative matters. “The main agenda involved the promotion and proposal of officers of the R&B Department. Their seniority confirmation has now been agreed,” he told reporters, adding that funds were also earmarked to support pawns and anglers through cooperative societies.
Rana said the Cabinet also approved the creation of the Animal Protection Board to streamline livestock-related regulations and welfare mechanisms. He added that the matter of daily wagers across departments was discussed, and the Chief Secretary has been directed to submit a comprehensive report at the earliest.
