A massive fire broke out near Kalika Colony in Gorkha Nagar today, sparking panic and chaos among the residents. Thick plumes of smoke engulfed the area, forcing locals to rush out of their homes for safety.
On receiving the information, SHO Bagh-e-Bahu, Ashwani Kumar, immediately reached the spot and alerted the Fire & Emergency Services Department. Fire tenders were pressed into service, and an operation was launched to control the blaze.
Meanwhile, President of Dogra Sabha Gorkha Nagar, Kulbir Singh, along with his team, also reached the spot. They extended full support to the police and Fire & Emergency personnel by helping keep residents away from the danger zone and assisting in maintaining order during the operation.
Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly, intensifying fear among the locals. The firefighting operation continued for several hours before the situation was finally brought under control.
- The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known, and no casualties were reported till the filing of this report. Authorities have assured a detailed investigation into the incident.
