Chandigarh, Sep 27: Punjab Police on Saturday confirmed the extradition of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh alias Pindi from the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant breakthrough in its crackdown against cross-border militancy.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said Pindi, a close aide of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, was brought back from Abu Dhabi in close coordination with central agencies. He described the extradition as a critical success in the pursuit of justice.
According to police, Pindi has been linked to multiple heinous crimes, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion cases in Batala, Gurdaspur district. His activities had created panic in the region and strengthened the operational reach of terror groups from abroad.
The extradition was executed after Batala Police requested a red corner notice (RCN). Acting on it, a four-member Punjab Police team, led by a senior officer, travelled to the UAE on September 24. The team worked in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities to complete the legal process.
Yadav shared the update on X, stating: “After completing all legal formalities, the police team successfully brought the accused back to face justice.”
Officials said the development underlines India’s growing international cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts and sends a strong signal to terrorist operatives sheltered overseas. (Agencies)
