Srinagar, Sept 12: In a significant drive against unhygienic and rotten meat, Srinagar police have registered six FIRs against individuals and establishments across the district, officials said on Friday.

The action was taken following reports of serious violations posing a threat to public health. FIRs were filed at police stations in Lal Bazar, Bemina, Batamaloo, Safakadal, Ram Munshi Bagh, and Zakura.

“During inspections, significant quantities of rotten meat were recovered. The items were confiscated and destroyed as per protocol,” police said.

To intensify the action, a special flying squad comprising district police, civil administration, and food safety officials has been constituted to carry out surprise inspections across Srinagar.

“Srinagar police is committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring that no individual or business indulges in activities that endanger citizens’ lives. Strict legal action will be taken against violators,” a police spokesperson added.
