Jammu, Sep 12: A Bihar resident, Anil Kumar of West Champaran district, was arrested for allegedly killing a woman and her two children in Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Friday. The case came to light on Tuesday when police received information about three bodies lying under a culvert on the highway in the Rattanbasti area of Banihal. Police, assisted by an FSL team, began an investigation and identified Kumar as the prime suspect. He was apprehended from Mir Bazar in Kulgam district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Dhanmati Devi, her 9-year-old daughter Suhani Kumari, and 5-year-old son Yash Kumar, all from East Champaran, Bihar. Police said the bodies had visible injury marks and pieces of cloth tied around their necks.
“After sustained questioning and cross-examination based on scientific evidence, the accused admitted his guilt. Further investigation is in progress,” authorities added. The bodies have been shifted to Banihal hospital for post-mortem examination. (Agencies)
