Jammu Tawi: Thousands of Muslims across Jammu and Kashmir offered Eid ul-Adha prayers on Saturday in a spirit of peace and brotherhood, with large congregations held at mosques, shrines, and Eidgahs across the Union Territory. Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Adha celebrated across Jammu region amid tight security. Muslims offered prayers across the Jammu region as they celebrated Eid-ul-Adha on Saturday with deep religious devotion and a joyful spirit.
Large crowds gathered at mosques and Eidgahs to offer special prayers across the ten districts of the region, with the largest congregation offering namaz at the Eidgah in Jammu city.
Other smaller congregations were held at various mosques throughout Jammu, including the Mecca Masjid.
Meanwhile, the largest gathering in Srinagar took place at the Hazratbal shrine, where former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Mehbooba Mufti joined the devout in offering Eid prayers. The shrine, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, is considered the holiest in the region.
Authorities ensured smooth celebrations by deploying security, sanitation, and healthcare teams at key prayer venues. In Jammu city, the main congregation was held at the Eidgah grounds on Residency Road, where members of Hindu and Sikh communities extended early Eid greetings to their Muslim neighbors, particularly in Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri.
Similar gatherings took place across Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian districts.
Children in festive attire accompanied their families to prayer sites, and the post-prayer celebrations saw Muslims embracing one another, reflecting the Islamic message of unity and compassion.
The peaceful observance of Eid al-Adha across J&K marked a significant display of communal harmony and religious devotion.
