Towards people participation through ‘Social audit’

    By-Er.Rajesh Pathak

The best mode of  social service to  the deprived is considered to be the one in which the recipient himself gets to inspire offering or returning  the same to society when  grown  capable one day. Moving forward , as also,  those  offering the help and the recipients may get strung together harmoniously beyond the so called hierarchy of castes and that of economic  thus coming close to each other.  And , keeping the national interest paramount, they may work  organised rising  above the narrow loyalties of  caste-creed-language. In view of  same purpose  the organisations like Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram and Seva-Bharti are engaged in the mission of charity among the economically and socially weaker sections,  and the sections of the people left far behind .
The north-east is the region of the country hit by secessionist activities. Away from here,  saving  the future generation,  it is Vanvasi Kalayan Ashram  that made the provision of keeping the students (of north-east )  in the hostels in other safer parts of the country, making the provisions of their education also.    To protect dharma-culture-traditions of  12 crores schedule tribes community Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram is running the  hospitals, hostels and educational centers. With the spirit of ‘ Tu-mae aeyk rakt’ (You-Me one blood) Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram organised ‘Janjati Samagam’  during the last Prayagraj Mahakumbh  from 6th  to 10th  February . Even as  on 10th  February  in the Sant-Sammailan   especially presented were Mahamandaleshwar Yatindraji maharaj and Swami Awadheshanand  Giri.
So is  the Sewa-Bharti  that is active in the  towns.  It runs service projects like Matru-Chhaya for the orphans ; old-age homes; hostels for the students , Shabri ashram for the females and several others.  Notably, on the border region  of the country in particular  it  built the chain of the hostels for the students to promote the business activities there,  checking the exodus of age old population  caused by the recurring disturbances from  the other side of the border.
Apart from Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad and Seva Bharti ,  the ever new initiatives are, thankfully,  seen to be coming up  in the field of social-service from different sphere  of the society, as also. Last days in Madhav Andhashram  (hostel for the blinds) of Gwalior came an  unique case .    Which was related with the  restoration of old  petition . It was previously rejected on the ground of failing to observe the rules by the  High Court bench  of Gwalior . Restoring the petition, Justice Anand Pathak ordered the petitioner to donate 1000 rupees to the Gwalior’s Madhav Andhashrm , along with offering a day service there. That this was not a punishment order , but an effort to inspire  the sense of social service , Court also added.

In view of  this development  Division bench of Gwalior High Court, MP (Justice Anand Pathak and Justice R K Vani ) later passed a  ruling making ‘social audit’ essential  for the juvenile-welfare institutions engaged in the care of the  children who are either  abandoned , given to bad habits or fallen into unlawful  activities,  and now living in the  rehabilitation centres  .  Under this the influential-strata of the society, henceforth, will be urged to make the visits in them time to time . So that the way to their contributions could be opened up, making the children living there realise that there exist the people in the society having emotional attachment with them, ready to share their joy and sorrow with them as also .
Launching sponsorship model a project is made making the provision of  playing accessories , study materials and other requirements to be  available to such children . In phased manner that the programme is  chalked out to make personalities associated  with the artistic, cultural and  professional activities of different hues visiting to interact  children, helping them according to their interests . Once having been trained in  particular  art, music and, so also, in different skills of employment like  computer learning and others  the children would no longer haunted by the feeling of being under-privileged as compared  to other  children living with parents.   Life now  being granted with the new objectives to live, it would make easier for them to get rid of  from the agonies of  past .
The lack of family atmosphere makes the  child emotionally more self-centric, pushing him to mental aberration. The remedy to it also lies to the settled families. Their presence with them during a family member birthday , or anniversary and other occasions may spark a new thrill into their lives  shrunk to loneliness.  Together with this the educational tours and picnic to the  tourist spots  may make their lives more amusing . Government, too, is all set  take the initiatives  with working upon organising different cultural activities like Charity-walk, Fun-run and several others. For the donors the provision of saving -account is made in Bank of Maharashtra.
Grown up amid these opportunities, after 18 years of age when inmate  sets to leave the shelter- home the question of where to live , what to eat, how to earn henceforth will not trouble  him .
Remember,  all  about the help  what Vivekananda  says : ‘Why should we do good to others . Apparently to help the others, but really we help ourselves- help ourselves to  reach nearer  the  eternal bliss of higher life.’  Once,  he adds,  I read  a sermon-‘ All this  world is very beautiful , for  it gives us time and opportunity to help other.’
