Mohan Choudhary IFS appointed DCF Ladakh
Jammu Tawi, Mar 22: The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change that had revoked the order of suspension of Mohan Choudhary, IFS (AGMUT: 2014), has directed him to join as Deputy Conservator of Forests in the Union Territory of Ladakh with immediate effect vide an order dated 21.03.2025.
In what can be termed as a chaotic sequence of communications ordering suspension, its extension and then revocation of ‘order of suspension’ and subsequently deputing the Mohan Chaudhary to four months mid-career training at Dehradun and now transferring him to Ladakh.
After doing all this, the Union Ministry of Environment & Forest, on 18th March 2025 has now raised a controversy by calling an explanation of Chief Secretary of Jammu Kashmir in this matter as to how the IFS Officer, Mohan Choudhary was allowed to join at Jammu on 4th December 2024 and also how the officer was allowed to attend Mid-Career Training at Dehradun subsequently when the Ministry claimed that it had revoked only the ‘suspension’ of the officer pending exoneration of charges vide its order dated 03-12-2024.
Interestingly, while quoting the orders of suspension of Mohan Chaudhary dated 08.08.2024 and its power conferred under All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules 1969, the Ministry’s letter dated 03-12-2024 reads as “ …hereby revokes the said order of suspension with immediate effect.” The ministry has now called for an explanation from Mr. Atal Dulloo, the J&K Chief Secretary for all this mess made by the ministry itself.
Notably, the Officer had submitted his departure report to the ministry and thereafter has joined the Chief Conservative of Forest at Jammu on 4th December, 2024
